I guess that I can thank my maternal grandmother for the gene that evokes the urge to create. Like her, I can't just 'sit'. If I am sitting, most of the time I have something in hand...be it a knitting project (that's been started and re-started too many times to count) or a crafty magazine. Simply put, I L-O-V-E makin' stuff.
I was the Editor of my High School yearbook in 1989; back before computers were
around to aid in creating a page layout. Even then, I loved the concept of placing a photo (here), putting a title (there) and a cute little clip art (about here). So when I was introduced to 'scrapbooking' in 1997, it was like getting re-acquainted with an old friend...the rest (as they say) is history...I've been puttering with paper, adhesive and scissors ever since!
In 2002, after the birth of my daughter, I wanted to start a scrapbook club to help supplement my crafting hobby. The Life Preservers Scrapbook Club was soon up and running...and running and running. By 2008, it was running so much that I seldom had the time to be crafty...or even the desire to be crafty. Couple that with the start of a part-time job and I made the hefty decision to sell out rather than close its doors completely. Since then, I've been happily snipping paper and designing one-of-a-kind creations to sell at Etsy. My style varies from one end of the spectrum to the other. Some days I feel like getting grungy and wearing glitter rather than eye shadow; other days I want precision with a side of neat and crisp.
I've always wanted to do the Design Team or Creative Team 'thing', so I figured that 2011
would be as good a time as any to give it a go. I'm enjoying the journey :)
